Ace Tennis Academy Founder Naa Shika Adu has stated that most tennis competitions in Ghana aren’t inclusive enough and is adamant the efforts of her academy are aimed at bridging this divide.
She said this in an exclusive chat with Citi Sports ahead of the third edition of the LoveBall Tennis Tour scheduled to take place at the Air Force Officers Mess Tennis Court on Saturday, December 2.
The tournament is eligible to individuals in the age range of 6 to 16 and will operate under the theme “A commemorative Kids Tournament”.
The upcoming event is the product of a partnership between Ace Tennis Academy- a subsidiary of Africa Tennis Connect- and the Air Force Officers Mess in Ghana’s capital, Accra.
“As an academy we have the opportunity to deal first hand with issues related to growing the game and getting more people to play the sport”
“Through this experience we realized most of the national tournaments hosted are not inclusive of majority young kids playing at homes or with their parents or in some clubs or generally have an interest in tennis” Shika Adu said and added
“The goal is create a space for thousands of kids who are not qualified or are intimidated to play against the select few who play in the national tournaments.”
