Mohammed Salisu returns from injury; sparks Monaco to 2-1 win over Rennes

Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu marked his return from a lengthy injury absence with a 2-1 win over Rennes in the French Ligue 1.

Salisu made his debut for Monaco in the process after joining the club this offseason from English Premier League side Southampton.

The former Real Valladolid player lasted the entire duration of the game and was relied upon to preserve Monaco’s lead after forward Vanderson got booked for the second time in the game and exited in the 75th minute.

Salisu received a yellow card in the 62nd minute and his return raises hopes for his inclusion in the Black Stars squad for the 2023 AFCON.

The 24 year old defender played on the left side of a three man defensive unit in the win and won all two aerial duels he was involved in.
