We lacked mental toughness-Hearts coach after loss to Kotoko

Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club assistant coach, Abdul Rahim Bashiru, has pinned his team’s 2-3 loss to Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club on the lack of mental toughness on the part of his guys.

He said this in the aftermath of Hearts loss in the latest clash between the biggest clubs in the Ghana Premier League played out the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Kotoko got the equalizer through Isaac Oppong in the 44th minute and a brace from Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala in the second half was enough to secure Kotoko its fourth league win in a row.

Speaking after the game in a post-game interview, Hearts interim head coach Bashiru talked through portions of the game his side lost out.

“We took the lead and we lost concentration and with these kind of matches, you need physical and mental toughness so that’s exactly what happened. We lost the concentration, we lost the focus… and they punished us.”
