Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club assistant coach, David Ocloo, is confident his team’s big win over bitter rival Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club will give his team the needed boost to strongly challenge for the Ghana Premier League title.
He said this after guiding Kotoko to clinch a 3-2 win over Hearts in the biggest clash in the league with a brace from striker Steven Mukwala leading the charge.
Isaac Oppong scored in the 44th minute to cancel Linda Mtange’s goal in the 37th minute before the Mukwala show took over.
A late Martin Karikari goal wasn’t enough to stop Kotoko from bagging its fourth league win in a row while Hearts has just a win in seven games.
Speaking after the game, a delighted Ocloo picked out consistency as his team’s biggest asset in the win; on the other other hand, Hearts assistant coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru blamed his team’s loss on lack of mental toughness. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“It’s about consistency. We’ve been playing the same team for some time now and I think this (win over Hearts) will lift us up to fight for the title” and praised his players saying,
“I think they are very committed and the unity among them; that is what is working.”
