Jordan Ayew red card fallout continues as teammates react to controversial dismissal

Ghana forward Jordan Ayew’s dismissal from the game between Crystal Palace and Liverpool continues to generate debate.

The veteran forward was sent off in the 75th minute after receiving two yellow cards in Palace’s 1-2 loss to Liverpool at Selhurst Park.

Liverpool scored a minute after Ayew was sent off through Mohammed Salah and Harvey Elliot scored the winner in added on time to send Liverpool to the top of the standings.

Toeing the line of Palace manager Roy Hodgson’s rant over Jordan Ayew’s red card, Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and Palace goalkeeper Remi Matthews shared their disappointment over the implications of Jordan’s exit to Place’s official media channel. “The sending-off… it’s a bit of a kick in the teeth for us. They go and score straight after and understandably it’s backs against the ropes” Matthews said.

“It’s sad because we were 1-0 up and we conceded two goals in the end” Mateta said as he reflected on his debut league goal of the season didn’t lead to a win for Palace.”
