Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu made his debut for AS Monaco and has gone on to express his emotions after playing for the French Principality club for the first time.

Salisu joined Monaco this past offseason from English Premier League side Southampton but a significant knee injury prevented him from competing.

However, he finally made it to the pitch in a competitive game for the first time as AS Monaco beat Rennes 2-1 away from home.

Salisu played out the entire game and received glowing praise from Monaco vice-captain Youssouf Fofana who scored in the win. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“I am really very happy to have played this first match, and proud too. The most important thing is that we picked up an important victory. It was tough, but we did everything to bring home the three points, and I’m very happy for that” Salisu said and added

“I had to make my debut today and I’m very happy I did. I missed everything, the competition, the supporters, the atmosphere. Today I had the chance to experience it all again, it’s great!”.

His return raises hope that a return to the Black Stars for the 2023 AFCON is on the cards.
