West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus is in Ghana but won’t report to the Black Stars camp in Kumasi ahead of the 2023 AFCON.

However, the 23 year old player is expected to join the team’s trip to Cote D’Ivoire on Wednesday, January 10 from Accra.

He will miss Ghana’s friendly game against Namibia tonight at 20:00 GMT at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. Namibia will compete at the AFCON in Group E against Tunisia, Mali and South Africa.

Kudus’ arrival in Ghana was confirmed by Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante Twum with rumours swirling over a potential absence of Kudus in the tournament that runs from January 13 to February 11.

Former Ajax Amsterdam player, Kudus, has missed the Black Stars training camp due to a “slight injury” as reported by Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton when announcing his 27 man squad for the 2023 AFCON.
