I am worried about stranded “Traditional” football supporters in Cote D’Ivoire- Hon. Woyome

A ranking member of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Parliamentary Select Committee, Wisdom Kobena Woyome says he worries that members of traditional supporters union groups in Ghana are allegedly stranded in Cote D’Ivoire.

He said this in an interview with Citi News in the wake of reports on poor conditions Ghanaians in Cote D’Ivoire to support Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team-the Black Stars- are going allegedly going through. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Over 300 supporters are believed to be struggling for access to food, water and proper accommodation in Abidjan to witness the 2023 AFCON and this situation has got the MP for South Tongu “worried.”

“I am particularly when I heard that the traditional team of supporters who will always travel with the team across the globe, the main supporters union, are also as we speak part of the people that are stranded. Well I deem it speculative for now but I will be there to get all the details.”

Ghana lost 1-2 to Cape Verde and is scheduled to play Egypt on Thursday, January 28 at 20:00 GMT.
