Thanks for the messages of support- Chris Hughton on attack after Cape Verde loss

Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton is very thankful for messages of support he received after getting abused verbally by an alleged fan after Ghana lost 1-2 to Cape Verde.

The loss took place in Ghana’s opening game at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire with the Black Stars conceding in the 92nd minute off a defensive howler that put Garry Rodrigues through on goal to slot home the important winner.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) addressed the issue by stating that, “The fan only expressed his displeasure over the outcome of the result and told the coach or leave the job. There was no physical confrontation and certainly no arrest was made.”

In his presser ahead of Ghana’s game against Egypt, Hughton addressed the issue saying, “I very much appreciate the levels of support that I’ve had. I think that is something is very much in the past. I think it’s had a lot of media coverage.”
