Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew is happy to score again in the French Ligue 1 after an eight year absence.

The veteran forward scored a brace in Le Havre’s 3-3 draw with Lorient this past weekend with both goals coming late in the contest.

Ayew scored with a header in the 85th minute and delivered a bicycle kick finish in the 94th minute to tie the game.

The goals were Ayew’s first since joining Le Havre as a free agent late in 2023; Ayew last played in the league for Olympique de Marseille before moving to English Premier League side Swansea City in June, 2015.

Speaking in the post game presser, “It’s pleasing to score again in the Ligue 1. I had been waiting for that moment since I came back.”

Ayew’s brace comes on the back of a disappointing 2023 AFCON run in Cote D’Ivoire that had Ghana crash out of the group stage without registering a win in three games.

The result means Lorient stay put at the bottom of the 18 team league standings with 13 points after picking up just two wins, seven draws and 10 losses.
