After excusing himself from selection to the Black Stars at the 2023 AFCON, Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku picked up a red card in Leicester City’s 1-3 loss to Coventry City. The loss is Leicester’s fourth of the season in 27 league games.

The speedy 20 winger was booked in added on time in the first half for a dangerous tackle when Leicester led 1-0 heading into the second half on the back of a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall goal.

In the wake of Issahaku’s absence, Coventry City scored goals in the 79th, 88th and 94th minutes with Callum O’Hara scoring twice.

Issahaku’s dismissal means he could possibly miss as many as three games with his return potentially pegged at February 13.

The 2023 AFCON runs from January 13 to February 11 with Ghana in Group B alongside Egypt, Mozambique and Cape Verde.
