The Black Stars of Ghana commence its 2023 AFCON campaign against Cape Verde and head coach Chris Hughton has delivered a series of surprising calls to his starting unit.

The unit is without Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams and West Ham midfielder Mohammed Kudus who reported to camp late due to health issues.

Ghana’s National Men’s Football team will have Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer start for the first time as a member of a three man unit behind lead man Antoine Semenyo.

Jordan Ayew and Joseph Paintsil will play either side of the Hamburger SV midfielder with Richard Ofori starting in goal for the Black Stars.

Ashimeru starts alongside Baba Iddrisu in a two man pivot ahead of the defensive line; Iddrisu got the nod ahead of regular started Salis Samed.

AS Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu starts alongside Alexander Djiku in central defence after recovering from a serious knee injury that forced him to miss several games.
