Ministry of Youth and Sports Committee to fly to Cote D’Ivoire to address supporters concerns

A ranking member of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Parliamentary Committee, Wisdom Kobena Woyome, has stated that members of the committee will travel to Cote D’Ivoire to address issues allegedly affecting Ghanaian football supporters.

He said this in an interview in the wake of alleged struggles supporters who were transported to Cote D’Ivoire by the government to support Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team-the Black Stars- at the 2023 AFCON were reported.

Lodged at the Entrée Hotel Memi in Abidjan, the over 300 supporters have reportedly been without food, water, proper accommodation and other services promised to them by government officials. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Speaking on the issue, Honourable Woyome said, “We will be there and some others will be joining…so we will get to know a lot more about the happenings and be able to speak to them properly, non- speculatively.”

One frustrated fan said to Citi News, “they should come and take us back to Ghana because all of us here, one way or the other we are doing our own thing, we are tired.”

The Black Stars lost 1-2 to Cape Verde and are scheduled to play Egypt on Thursday, January 18 at 20:00 GMT.
