Ghana forward Jordan Ayew has shown his team-first mentality by wishing his team plays well and wins games as what he looks forward to the most in 2024.
In a post game interview after Crystal Palace’s 3-1 win over Brentford, Ayew placed team goals ahead of personal goals when discussing expectations for the New Year.
Ayew provided an assist in the win that improves his tally to five thus far in the 2023-2024 season and the win ended a four game winless run for Palace.
The former Swansea City player’s statement comes in the face of his inclusion in the Black Stars squad for the 2023 AFCON campaign in Cote D’ Ivoire.
After talking up the importance of scoring a win before leaving for the AFCON, Ayew said, “I don’t really set targets. Me, personally, I always want the team to play well and to win games, and if I can chip in, I’ll be very happy.” (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“The most important thing for me in the New Year is good health, my family to have good health and the whole team to have good health. After that, the rest is secondary.”
Ghana is in Group B with Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique at the 2023 AFCON.
