Our level has to be higher against Egypt- Chris Hughton

Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton says his team’s level has to be higher against Egypt than it was against Cape Verde.

Ghana lost 1-2 to Cape Verde to open its campaign in the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire; the loss marked back to back losses for the Stars in an AFCON opener after losing 0-1 to Morocco in the 2021 edition.

He said this in a press conference ahead of Ghana’s game against Egypt where the Stars need to win to improve its chances of progressing to the round of 16 stage.

“Our level has to be higher. We are playing on paper, a very good side, a better team. So we know our levels got to be better.”

Egypt head into the game under scrutiny after playing out a 2-2 draw with Mozambique in its opening game where the Pharaohs needed a late Mohammed Salah penalty to draw level.
