Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton says Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club midfielder Richmond Lamptey has an opportunity to play in the Black Stars tie against Mozambique just like every player on the team.
Hughton said this in a pre-game presser as the Black Stars prepare to play the crucial game with qualification for the four time African champions hanging in the balance.
The Kotoko maestro is yet to play in any of Ghana’s games at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire against Cape Verde and Egypt.
However, Hughton that indicated Lamptey has an opportunity to play against Mozambique with Majeed Ashimeru’s fitness in question.
“He’s very much part of the squad and the fact he’s part of a squad where everybody has an opportunity. Richmond has been a big part of our squad as has everybody else and that means that they all put themselves always into consideration to be involved.”
Ashimeru was substituted early in the second half and was spotted limping after the game; Ghana plays Mozambique on Monday, January 22 at 20:00 GMT.
