Black Stars legend Mohammed Polo isn’t optimistic about the title winning chances of the Black Stars at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
He said this as Ghana prepares to play against Cape Verde in the opening game of its campaign on Sunday, January 14 at 20:00 GMT.
The Black Stars are attempting to win the AFCON for the fifth time and head into the competition on the back of exiting the 2021 AFCON without registering a win.
In recent games, Ghana has lost to the likes of USA and Mexico in international friendly games and lost 0-1 to Comoros in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
“After being starved for over 40 years, is there a good sign that these boys are going to win? Look at their performance”

“You can see that these are players playing in the big teams but when they come together, it doesn’t gel.”

At the 2023 AFCON, Ghana is in Group B with Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
