Black Stars winger Osman Bukari has apologized for the team’s poor run at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire that ended in a first round exit at the competition.
Bukari issued the apology on his X (formerly Twitter page) exactly a week after Ghana’s late collapse to draw 2-2 with Mozambique with the result condemning Ghana to its second group stage exit in a row.
Following the acts of Black Stars teammates Alexander Djiku, Mohammed Kudus and Salisu Mohammed, Bukari apologized to Ghanaians for failing to excel in the competition.
“It has taken me quite a number of days to gather the words to address you our dear fans, because of the embarrassment we brought on the nation & the fact that we let you down and our inability to advance to the next stage has hit heavily on me, for I contributed a part in it.”
“We live to fight someday. Thank y’all for the encouragement, love and support!!” he wrote.
Bukari played in two of Ghana’s three games at the 2023 AFCON that had Ghana lose 1-2 to Cape Verde and draw 2-2 with Mozambique.
