Black Stars captain Andre Ayew is upbeat about the team’s chances of getting support to win the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.
He said this in an interview with CAF ahead of the Black Stars opening game in the tournament against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14 at 20:00 GMT.
Dipping into his connection to the host country via his Ivorian wife, Ayew said, “We came so close. We wanted it so much, it came down to details” and added
“My children have Ivorian blood flowing in their veins. I’m a bit in my second country. We will have support to get this title.”
In a recent development, Andre’s wife, Yvonne, expressed her support for her husband but quickly added that should Cote D’Ivoire win the tournament, she would be happy. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
