Ghana defensive midfielder Hans Nunoo Sarpei has officially joined Finland League side HJK Helsinki on a free transfer.
The 25 year old joins the Finnish giants after spending sometime as a free agent following his release from German side FC Ingolstadt in the latter part of the 2023 calendar year. The deal is a two year contract with an optional year.
Sarpei’s addition to Helsinki’s roster improves the team’s depth in the midfield department ahead of Helsinki’s back to back Liiga Cup fixtures against Ilves on Saturday, February 10 and Sunday, February 11 against Hammarby.
Nephew of former Black Stars defender Hans Adu Sarpei, Nunoo Sarpei has played for Greuther Furth and VFB Stuttgart in his career.
In his final season with Ingolstadt, Sarpei played 33 times in all competitions and registered a goal and an assist.
By joining Helsinki, Sarpei becomes the second Ghanaian on the team with 21 year old right footed left winger Samuel Anini Juniour contracted to Helsinki till December 31, 2024.
Anini has made just one appearance this season and has represented Finland at the juvenile level from the Under 16 level through to the Under 20 level.
