Former Black Stars player John Paintsil says Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars, are still in a rebuilding phase.

He said this during his appearance on United Showbiz with former Black Stars teammates Samuel Inkoom and Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu.

All three were invited to speak on the poor state of Ghana football that prompted sports journalists and football enthusiasts to pull off the SaveGhanaFootball Demonstration on February 14. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Ghana has been eliminated from the AFCON in back to back editions including the recently ended 2023 edition that had the Black Stars crash out after failing to win a game.

However, the former Fulham and West Ham player says the Black Stars are in the rebuilding phase with new members even after beating Nigeria in a playoff tie to qualify to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

“When we talk about the Black Stars, the current performance and all, they just returned from the World Cup (in Qatar). They qualified us.”

“The big game in Nigeria, they went there, they qualified. We need to understand that they are still rebuilding; the team has new faces.”
