Chairperson of the Women’s FA Cup Committee Rosalind Amoh has expressed her displeasure over unpaid bonuses owed the Black Queens.

Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team will be in action on Friday, February 23 at 17:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium against Zambia in a 2024 Olympic Games qualifier.

The game is the first of two legs with the second leg scheduled to take place in Zambia on Wednesday, February 28.

Speaking on Citi TV’s Football Made in Ghana, the veteran sports journalist highlighted the negative effects on the team over the financial challenges facing the team stemming from unfulfilled promises after the team qualified to compete in the 2024 Women’s AFCON.

“It’s a big game the Queens are going to play on Friday but I believe Ghana can get it done but what I don’t like is the noise about bonuses because you know bonuses are intrinsic motivation so if nothing is done about it, it is likely to demotivate the players.”

“The same problems cost us a place at the 2004 Olympics when Memunatu Sulemana saved three penalties against Nigeria and Ghana needed to convert two kicks but missed out on qualifying over this same bonus issue” she added.

Zambia heads into this game on the back of competing in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
