Ghana’s Men’s 4 x 100 Metre Relay Team have booked its place in the 2024 Olympic Games after winning Heat 2 at the World Relays in Bahamas.
Team Ghana finished the race ahead of Nigeria and Dominican Republic with a time of 38.29 which is Ghana’s best thus far this season.
The Ghanaian quartet of Ibrahim Fuseini, Isaac Botsio, Benjamin Azamati and Joseph Paul Amoah improved on the mark set by Team Ghana at the 2023 African Games.
At Accra 2023, the Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, Edwin Gadayi and Solomon Hammond clinched silver in a time of 38.43 seconds.
In sealing qualification, three members of Team Ghana run split times below 10 seconds to clinch Ghana’s spot in Paris.
Ghana’s anchor leg Joseph Amoah had the quickest split time (9.12) with Isaac Botsio coming in a close second with 9.13, Benjamin Azamati run 9.35 and Ibrahim Fuseini running 10.09. Azamati is reported to be carrying a hip injury.
On Day One of the World Relays, Ghana dropped the baton to miss out on qualification with the mishap happening in the aftermath of finishing second at the Penn Relays.
