PARIS 2024Q: “Overcome Zambia and GOC will add to your incentives” – Ben Nunoo Mensah

President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Ben Nunoo Mensah, has urged the Black Queens to surpass the Copper Queens of Zambia in the initial leg of the 2024 Paris Olympic Qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium.

He delivered this message during the Black Queens’ visit after their training session at the Accra Sports Stadium in preparation for the upcoming third-round clash against the Copper Queens on Friday.

“We have made every arrangement, having in mind that, you are going to qualify for Paris next year.”

“We need to go there and show what Ghanaian football is made of.”

“We will feel so bad, if we are unable to show up or qualify for Paris, especially with the good work Nora Huaptle has done with you girls so far”

“I wish you all the best in the game against Zambia and I am pretty sure you ladies can go all the way and do it.”

“Go over Zambia and then when we have more for the team, we will send it over to the federation and it will be used to support your journey.”

Following reports of female players contemplating a boycott of the game against the Copper Queens on Friday due to unpaid bonuses since September 2023, Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku, Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif, and Management Committee Chairperson Dr. Gifty Oware Mensah visited the players ahead of the upcoming match in a bid to qualify for the Paris Olympics Games 2024.

The Queens have received assurance that their outstanding bonuses will be settled before the game against the Copper Queens on Friday, February 23, 2024.
