Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu has admitted that he is playing football to “only 60%” of his ability and can play better.

He said this in a pre game presser to AS Monaco’s official media ahead of the team’s French Ligue 1 game against Le Havre Athletic Club on Sunday, February 4.

Salisu returned to action with Monaco after playing for Ghana at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire that had the Black Stars crash out of the tournament in the first round.

Despite playing a pivotal role in Monaco’s 3-3 draw with Olympique Marseille in the previous round, Salisu believes he is still working his way back to his best after playing only four times since recovering from a knee injury that kept him out of action for four months. “It’s a pleasure to be here and the integration has been easy. On a more personal level, I know I can play even better. I think I’m only at 60% of my capabilities. To reach my best level, I am training hard every day.”

Salisu’s performance in Cote D’Ivoire was heavily criticized and is in line to play against fellow Black Stars player Andre Dede Ayew who is on Le Havre’s roster and scored twice to rescue a point against Lorient. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
