Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Ahmed Hossam Mido believes Hossam Hassan will have a successful run as Egypt’s head coach.

Hossam Hassan was recently announced as the new head coach of the Egyptian national team replacing Rui Vitoria after a catastrophic AFCON campaign.

The former Al Masry manager’s appointment was heavily criticised by many who believed the Egyptian Football Association should hire another foreign coach.

However, Ahmed Hossam Mido congratulated Hassan on the new job and expressed his confidence in the latter to get Egypt back to their best.

“I was honoured to play with Hossam Hassan and trained under his leadership,” Mido said. “The Egyptian national team has lost its prestige in recent years and Hassan will restore it once again.

“He will bring out the best version of Mohamed Salah, and he will make Salah fight more with the national team.

“I think Hassan will be a lifeline for Salah in the national team, and remember my words, Hassan is a true legend,” he added.
