The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that his government will establish a school sports secretariat should he get voted into power in the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in Ghana.

He said this in his national address delivered at the University of Professional Studies as he gears up for intense campaigning ahead of the December 7 polls.

Touching on a long list of issues, the Vice President of Ghana voiced his willingness to have his government establish a closer relationship between sports and education by establishing a school sports secretariat that works with stakeholders such as the Ghana Education Service (GES) and various sports federations.

He added that should he be voted as President of Ghana, talented sports individuals will get the chance to work with international sports leagues such as the National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Football League (NFL-American Football).

“My government will also seek school-level collaboration with international sports bodies like the NBA and NFL to make Ghana a hub for these emerging sports in Africa, to create more opportunities for young people” he said.
