Ghanaian-American comedian Michael Blackson has waded into the Ghana-Nigeria rivalry by comparing the countries’ famous jollof rice dish and their level of football in connection to the AFCON.

He jumped into the rivalry after Nigeria’s National Men’s Football Team beat South Africa on penalties to qualify to the 2023 AFCON final game.

Nigeria secured the 4-2 win via penalties with the game ending 1-1 after extra time to get the chance to clinch its fourth AFCON title on Sunday, February 11.

On the other hand, Ghana failed to win a game at the AFCON for the second edition in a row to crash out of the tournament in the first round.

While congratulating Nigeria and poking fun at Ghana’s run at the AFCON, Blackson jabbed Nigeria’s jollof rice as inferior to Ghana’s jollof rice.

“Nigeria your football team is as good as Ghana jollof. Naija jollof is as bad as Ghana football team” he wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page.

Ghana last won the AFCON in 1982.

Nigeria 🇳🇬 your football team is as good as Ghana jollof. Naija jollof is as bad as Ghana 🇬🇭 football team.
