Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey is “very close” to return to action to compete for The Gunners.
He said this in a pre game presser ahead of Arsenal’s English Premier League game against Newcastle on Saturday, February 24 at 20:00 GMT.
Partey has been out of action since November 2023 as the former Atletico Madrid player picked up a thigh injury in the warm up before a UEFA Champions League tie against Sevilla in the group stage.
However, Partey has returned to training with forward Gabriel Jesus who is also working his way back to form after missing games due to injury.
“We have another session today and obviously he’s been out for many, many months now and we need to really nail the timing and when he has enough in the tank to compete, but I think he’s very close” and added that “It’s the same with Gabby [Jesus] as well, he’s done a few things”.

Partey missed out on competing for Ghana at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.
