West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus says his team’s 4-2 win over Brentford in the English Premier League on Monday was one the team “needed”.

Heading into the game, West Ham had zero wins in the English premier League in 2024 amid a torrid run after a brilliant run of results to close out 2023.

Kudus set up Jarrod Bowen’s third goal in the win by crossing the ball from the right side on to the head of the forward who finished off the move.

Speaking to West Ham’s media, Kudus who talked about the team’s ambition to win this year’s Europa League, pegged the win over Brentford as one The Hammers really needed.

“We needed it,” the No14 explained. “The past games have been very difficult, but it was good to get the reaction and the win in front of the fans. We keep building on it and focus on the next game.”

“I think [the two goals in seven minutes] showed how hungry we as players are for the goals because that is what we are supposed to do. I’m not surprised [about Jarrod Bowen’s hat-trick], more is coming.”
