Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil has stated the reason for his absence in the latest Black Stars call up for upcoming international friendly games against Nigeria and Uganda.

The Los Angeles Galaxy player was a big omission in the squad that will compete in Otoo Addo’s second run out with the Black Stars as head coach following his appointment recently.

Addo has since gone on to name fellow former Black Stars players John Paintsil and Fatau Dauda as assistant coach and goalkeeper coach for the Black Stars respectively.

In a statement delivered on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Paintsil stated that immigration issues in relation to his recent move from Belgian side KRC Genk to Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy is the reason behind his omission.

“As a result of my very recent move to a new club in the United States, there are some further immigration documentation procedures I have to go through, which is why I am unable to travel outside the United States until the process is completed. For this reason, I am unable join the squad for the upcoming friendly games.”

Since joining Galaxy, Paintsil has bagged a goal and an assist in three games.
