Ghana has missed out on securing a place in the final four of the 2023 African Games 3×3 Basketball Women’s Division.
Host of the 13th edition of the African Games lost 17-19 to big rival Nigeria in the quarterfinal played at the University of Ghana Basketball Court.
Ghana let a place in the semifinals and the chance to secure a medal slip away after blowing a five point lead with under three minutes remaining in the contest despite a fine performance from Ezequeen Dadzie.
However, Nigeria’s Agatha Agba and Regina Donanu scored crucial points to force the game into overtime with the game ending 17 apiece after regulation time.
Nigeria’s Isioma Onianwa gathered a pass from a kick out drive to the basket and scored a jump shot to secure the win and a semifinal matchup against DR Congo on Friday, March 22 at 16:20 GMT. Mali play Benin in the other semifinal at 16:00 GMT.

Ghana’s female team aimed to make the semis just as its male team did via a 21-19 win over Burkina Faso. Ghana take on Botswana in the semis with Algeria taking on Uganda in the other semifinal game.
