“Expect nothing but the best” – Azamati on 100m finals

Ghanaian 100m sprint champion, Benjamin Azamati says the country should expect nothing but the best from him ahead of the men’s finals.

The 26-year-old qualified to the finals of the men’s 100m finals by finishing second in his semis heat with a time of 10.41s.

Azamati will be coming up against Barnabas Aggerh, Itsekir Usheoritse (Nigeria) and Esme Emmanuel Alobwede (Cameroon) in what promises to be an exhilarating race.

Speaking to Citi Sports the former West Texas A&M athlete admitted he has not been at his best during the heats and semis but will deliver when the finals come off.

“I am not running as fast as would like but I will sit with my coach and we will discuss what I could’ve done better and then we execute in the finals,” he said.

“Ghanaians should expect the best from me. I will give off nothing but my best because the crowd is supporting me and I will use that to my advantage,” he added.

The men’s 100m finals will come off today at 18:20GMT at the University of Ghana Stadium.
