Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club’s unbeaten run has ended following The Phobians’ 2-1 loss to Ghana Premier League leaders FC Samartex 1996 in Samreboi.
A brace from Evans Osei Wusu was the difference as Hearts got a goal from fast rising star Hamza Issah in the 77th minute.
Osei Wusu scored in the 23rd minute but had it cancelled out by Issah before scoring another in the 87th minute to keep Samartex atop the standings and establish a five point lead having played a game more than closest rival Nations FC.
Nations FC will be in action in a tough game against city rival Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club on Sunday, March 24 at 18:00 GMT at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Speaking in his post game interview after seeing his side lose for the first time under his watch, Hearts coach Aboubakar Ouattara said he is responsible for the loss.
“Today I think I made a bad choice and it affected the team; it’s my fault. They-Samartex-have a good team, I congratulate Samartex, they are very good.”
Hearts will take on Bibiani Gold Stars next on Friday, April 5; the team stays in seventh place in the league standings after losing to Samartex.
