The National Sports Authority has officially endorsed and designated the Ghana eSports Federation (GESF) as the paramount authority governing E-Sports in Ghana.
Recognizing GESF as the solitary regulatory body for electronic gaming sports within the nation, this accreditation follows thorough adherence to registration prerequisites.
In a pivotal meeting held in February between President Igor Boumekpo of the Ghana eSports Federation (GESF) and the NSA, deliberations centered on securing autonomous status for GESF as the exclusive entity entrusted with overseeing and coordinating all esports-related undertakings nationwide. With the endorsement now formalized, this collaboration heralds a significant milestone for the esports community in Ghana and, by extension, the gaming fraternity across Africa.
GESF has been instrumental in orchestrating a plethora of competitions and events catering to gamers in Ghana and beyond. Notable among these initiatives are the Warm Up ESports Festival, held in partnership with 3Sports last year, and the annual Orange eSports gatherings since 2018.
Moreover, GESF orchestrated the NFL Fan Zone event in Accra this year, coinciding with the NFL Africa Touchdown, featuring distinguished guests such as Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The endorsement and validation bestowed upon the Ghana eSports Federation (GESF) signify a significant stride towards the advancement of gaming events in Ghana and Africa, envisaging a future where the gaming landscape in Ghana undergoes considerable enhancement and enrichment.
