Los Angeles Galaxy Football Club have denounced the racist abuse on Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil after Galaxy lost 2-1 to Los Angeles Football Club.

Dubbed the El Trafico, the Los Angeles Derby had Paintsil played out the entire duration of the game but miss out on a win.

In the wake of the Galaxy’s loss, Paintsil was racially abused by an individual who is reported to be an LAFC fan. The individual wrote “Mon key couldn’t do anything today” on Paintsil’s Instagram story. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Reacting to the incident, LA Galaxy came to the defense of the 26 year old Paintsil who joined the club from Belgian side KRC Genk earlier this year.

In a statement released by the club, Galaxy stated that “the club stands with Joseph and anyone who has faced racial abuse through social platforms anywhere else.”
