BRYAN CLAY INVITATIONAL: Ghana’s William Amponsah sets new national record in 10,000m event

In a remarkable display of athletic prowess, William Amponsah of Ghana shattered the WT school record in the 10,000-meter event, just moments after Harry Louradour had set a new benchmark.

Amponsah’s stellar performance, clocking in at 28 minutes flat, marked his second outing for the 2024 outdoor season and cemented his name atop the Buff’s best in the discipline.

Notably, Amponsah faced tough competition from a field that included runners from prestigious institutions such as Oklahoma State, Northern Arizona, Texas, Iowa State, and RMAC contender Adams State.

Despite this, he emerged victorious, not only claiming the WT school record but also surpassing the facility and Bryan Clay Invitational records, both set in 2022.

This achievement holds particular significance for Amponsah as it represents a personal best, surpassing his previous record set during the African Games hosted in Ghana.

It’s a testament to his dedication and talent, reaffirming his status as a standout athlete in NCAA Division II competition.
