Bibiani Gold Stars head coach, Stephen Frimpong Manso, has blamed his team’s 2-0 loss to Accra Lions on an exhausting travel schedule.

Gold Stars lost to Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium with goals from Mohammed Yahaya and Daniel Awuni settling the game.

The win is Lions’ fourth in the last six Ghana Premier League games in the 2023-2024 second round; Lions have been in brilliant since the second half of the season commenced. Lions at the time of publication rank fifth in the 18 team league standings.

After dropping points, Bibiani’s veteran trainer Frimpong Manso, fingered a busy travel schedule that had Gold Stars play in Tamale, Accra (twice) and Bibiani over a short period.

“We needed to press them and it was difficult; looking at the conditions we are in. Within one week, we have travelled to Accra on two occasions and then played again on Wednesday and then to press with such conditions, it was very difficult for us.”

“You could see they we were comfortable because they can pass, they can build. To prevent that we needed to press them to force to kick long balls and we were finding it difficult to do that because of our physical condition.”
