Dreams Football Club head coach, Abdul Karim Zito, is adamant his team’s game plan would have been the same had Ahmed Mustapha Zizou featured in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal match between SC Zamalek and Dreams FC in Egypt.

He said this in a post game interview after Dreams held Zamalek to a goalless draw ahead of the second leg at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, April 28.

Zizou was ranked third in the competition with the most goal contributions after registering three goals and three assists in the lead up to the game.

However, he missed the tie due to suspension and Zamalek created but wasted several chances to get at least a goal and potentially a lead in the two legged game. For Zito, the Egyptian international’s presence or lack there of was irrelevant.

“The absence of Ahmed Mustafa Zizou is not our responsibility, and our plan was clear whether Zizou played or not. The player may participate in the return match in Ghana.”
