Los Angeles Galaxy Football Club head coach, Greg Vanney, has highlighted some of his team’s struggles in a league game in the Major League Soccer (MLS).
Galaxy lost 2-0 to Austin FC in the Los Angeles outfit’s sixth away game of the season with a performance that had Vanney’s team fail to score a goal for the first time.
Paintsil lasted the entire duration of the game and completed one successful dribble in three attempts while completing 26 of 31 passes. He registered two shot on target.
However, it was a largely frustrating outing for Galaxy who were coming off a4-3 win over San Jose Earthquake in the California Derby.
Speaking in a post game interview, Vanney highlighted spacing as a key area his team had issues dealing with.
“I was just trying to shift some of our bodies around and see if we could speed up somethings and try to use Joe’s (Joseph Paintsil) quickness between those center backs and try something a little different to unlock some situations. They ended up so deep that there wasn’t a ton of space to work with some of our quicker guys.”
Paintsil has had a fine start to life in the MLS scoring four goals and adding four assists in 10 league games.
