Ghana’s Black Starlets bounced back with a resounding victory by triumphing Serbia five goals to one at the VGAFK Stadium in Volgograd, Russia in the ongoing UEFA U-16 International Development Tournament.

GHANA’S LINEUP AGAINST SERBIA

Abdulai Nortey set the pace, netting a superb curler in the 16th minute, leaving Serbian goalkeeper Bogdan Bogdanovic stranded.

The lead doubled in the 43rd minute when Benjamin Hanson calmly converted a penalty kick.

Dominating the field, the Black Starlets continued to press, and their efforts paid off with Koranteng David’s precise header, securing a commanding 3-0 lead before halftime.

In the second half, Ebenezer Anane further extended Ghana’s lead with a skilful strike in the 63rd minute.

Despite a consolation goal from Serbian captain Pavle Stulic in the 68th minute, Ghana remained in control in the second half.

Skipper Benjamin Tsivanyo sealed the victory with a brilliant solo effort, showcasing Ghana’s dominance on the field.

The performance not only redeemed their earlier loss to Russia but also provided Coach Laryea Kingston with a wealth of positives to build upon heading into their next game.

Despite Serbia entering the match as favourites after a convincing win against Kazakhstan, Ghana’s stellar performance showcased their resilience and determination.

Looking ahead, Laryea Kingson’s squad will face Kazakhstan in their final group match on Sunday, April 28.

The UEFA U-16 International Development Tournament is a vital platform for Ghana, allowing them to refine their skills and strategies in preparation for the upcoming U-17 WAFU B competition.
