The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations top goal scorer, Emiliano Nsue, is set to come out of international football retirement and feature for Equatorial Guinea.

This comes in the lead up to 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June with Equatorial Guinea scheduled to play against Tunisia on June 5 and Malawi on June 10.

This is a sharp turn on his decision to retire from competing for Equatorial Guinea in international football after a major fallout with the country’s Federation.

After launching a series of vicious attacks on his country’s federation over poor treatment of players during the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire, Nsue got suspended indefinitely. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Equatorial Guinea were on the verge of making it to the 2023 AFCON quarterfinals but lost 1-0 to Guinea with Nsue missing a penalty kick in the contest.

Mere hours after picking up the 2023 AFCON Golden Boot Award, Nsue blasted his federation. Equatorial Guinea head into the next round of qualifiers ranked second in Group H tied with leaders Tunisia on six points but with an inferior goal difference.
