Chairman of the Accra Basketball League (ABL), Ayitey Bulley, has talked about his expectations for the 2024 ABL Season.
In an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, the administrator stated that through Ghana’s premier basketball league, he expects basketball becomes a household sport.
The league has commenced with 10 teams competing in the Men’s Division I and Women’s Division respectively with the likes of Tema Youth and Juniour Reformers competing in the 20 team Men’s Division II.
“The biggest expectation is to make basketball a household sport; a sport that everybody watches. We want more people to become interested in basketball and not just in playing basketball but in all aspects of basketball.”
He added that, “We are hoping to see the results of those development and interventions (recruiting young referees and statistics) in the league in terms of the quality of the games that are played.”
This comes on the back of the ABL Chairman welcoming the contributions of private individuals in a league dominated by security service teams. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
