Ghana winger Osman Bukari has joined Major League Soccer (MLS) side Austin FC from Serbian powerhouse Red Star Belgrade.
The move comes after the speedy winger’s latest call up to Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars, for upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The 2026 World Cup will take place in the USA, Mexico and Canada and Bukari’s move to Austin gets him to the United States two full years before the start of the competition.
Bukari has signed to the club as a Designated Player meaning his salary is sure to be one of the highest at the club in a similar way Black Stars teammate Joseph Paintsil’s deal is.
Paintsil joined Los Angeles Galaxy from Belgian side KRC Genk after the 2023 AFCON and has reportedly quadrupled his salary as a result. Bukari played with Paintsil at the 2023 AFCON.

However, the 25 year old’s move has been completed and will join the team after Ghana’s qualifiers against Mali and Central African Republic in June.

He ended his time with Red Star Belgrade by winning the Serbian Super Cup and Serbian League title while producing seven goals and five assists in 24 league games.
