Black Stars duo, Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu, are in line to compete in the French Ligue 1 2024-2025 season after helping AJ Auxerre gain promotion to the elite division from Ligue 2.

Auxerre’s spot in next season’s Ligue 1 campaign was confirmed after bagging a 2-0 win over Paris Football Club with goals from Lassine Sinayoko in the 22nd minute and Ado Onaiwu in the 57th minute sealing the win.

Beating Paris FC meant Auxerre hold a six point lead atop the Ligue 2 standings with two games left to play in the season.

To round up the season, Auxerre is scheduled to take on Amiens SC and Concarneau on Friday, May 10 and Friday, May 17 respectively.

The Ghanaian pair has been instrumental in Auxerre’s qualification immediately back to the Ligue 1 after getting relegated from the division last season.
