Accra Hearts of Oak striker Hamza Issah has jumped to the summit of the goal scorers’ chart after bagging his 12th goal in the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season.

Issah’s latest strike was recorded in Hearts much needed 3-0 win over Berekum Chelsea at the Berekum Golden City Park.

His 19th minute strike got the under fire Phobians confidence to power through for two more goals through strikes from Linda Mtange and Kassim Cisse.

The young forward was compared to Brazilian football legend Romario by former Hearts of Oak head coach Martin Koopman. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Issah, at the time of publication, is tied with Berekum Chelsea’s Steven Amankona for first place in the goal scorers’ chart but the 21 year old edges Amankona after scoring 12 goals in 23 league games.

Amankona has scored 12 goals in 24 league games this season with Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s Steven Mukwala bagging 11 goals.

Hearts take on Aduana Stars on Friday, May 17 with Issah in line to feature heavily in the contest after scoring almost half of The Phobians output (30 goals) with five games left to close out the season.
