Chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, Wilson Arthur, has described the final game of the competition as a national event.
He said this in an exclusive interview on CITI TIV’S Football Made In Ghana in the wake of the conclusion of the semifinal games of the tournament.
Bofoakwa Tano beat Dreams FC 2-1 with Nsoatreman beating Legon Cities by the same margin to setup a clash between the rival teams from the Bono-Ahafo enclave in the final.
The final of this year’s FA Cup will take place at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon on June 23 with the winner earning a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
“MTN FA Cup grand final is always a national event. That’s why we choose the best stadium where the facilities easily can help things be executed and compliance will be enforced. That rivalry that we talk about, it won’t be that bad. No. This will be a match that the fans will come out and enjoy.”
Dreams FC won last season’s title and made it to the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup after losing 3-0 on aggregate to Egypt’s SC Zamalek.
