Retired referee Alex Kotey has given his assessment on officiating in the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season terming it as one that started out on a good note with hope for better results in the upcoming season.

He said this in an interview with Citi Sports on the sidelines of the Ghana Football Awards Launch as the Ghana Premier League season comes to a close later this weekend.

Despite giving a positive mark on officiating in the league, the long tenured official admitted that the quality dropped midway through the campaign.

“We haven’t been perfect. We still have more room to improve so we will continue to work on them. We hope to be better in the coming year; we started on a very good note refereeing was quite good. Somewhere along the line, they slacked a little bit so we brought them back again and we helped to whip them back on their toes.”
