Ghana’s run as the second placed nation in Group I standings of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers didn’t last long with the Black Stars slipping to third place.

This comes in the wake of Comoros losing 2-1 to Madagascar earlier today; Comoros led the Group standings in the lead up to the game based on having a superior goal difference over Ghana.

However, with the loss, Comoros have slipped to second place shifting Ghana to third place with Madagascar moving to first place.

All three nations have secured six points from winning two games in three outings with Ghana beating Mali and Madagascar while losing 1-0 to Comoros.

Madagascar has a goal difference of +3 with second ranked Comoros having a goal difference of +2 and Ghana ranking third with a goal difference of +1.

Ghana is scheduled to play against Central African Republic (CAR) on Monday, June 10 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi next.
