Steven Mukwala leaves Kumasi Asante Kotoko after contract expires

Uganda striker Steven Dese Mukwala has announced his exit from Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club following the expiration of his contract.

Mukwala signed a two year deal with Kotoko after joining the Porcupine Warriors from Ugandan side Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club.

The forward is rumoured to be on the transfer radar of Tanzania club Simba Sporting Club after impressing in his two year run with the Kumasi based side.

According to Transfermarkt, the 24 year old striker scored 14 goals in 28 Ghana Premier League games in the 2023-2024 season as Kotoko finished sixth in the 18 team league standings.

He starred in Super Clash against big rivals Accra Hearts of Oak SC by scoring in both games including a brace in the second leg at the Baba Yara Stadium. In his debut season, Mukwala scored 11 goals and added five assists in 31 league games.

In his farewell message, Mukwala thanked the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and former CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah and wrote on his X page “I am glad to have been part of a profound family. I hold you dearly in my heart.”
